Start with the small things
Remove clothes, lamps, decorations, electronics, bedding, drawers, and loose items. Large beds, sofas, cabinets, safes, and appliances need to be discussed before the estimate is accepted.
Moving furniture from room to room takes time
Shifting heavy pieces can block the next room and leave less space for tools and carpet rolls. Show every item that will still be there on work day.
- Take photos from each corner
- Mention very heavy or oversized pieces
- Say what needs to be taken apart
- Identify items the crew should not touch
Be clear about who moves what
Ask whether any furniture moving is included. Electronics, plumbing, gas appliances, mounted furniture, and specialty items may need another professional.
