Start with the building rules
List the hours when work is allowed, occupied areas, alarms, elevators, loading doors, parking limits, noise rules, and whether the space must reopen each morning. These details can matter as much as square footage.
Look for more than one carpet type
A single building may have broadloom carpet, carpet tile, entry mats, carpeted stairs, glued transitions, and repaired areas installed at different times.
- A floor plan or room list
- Furniture and fixed workstations
- The approved carry-out route
- The condition needed for the next contractor
Decide who handles the floor afterward
Old adhesive, patching, grinding, moisture checks, and floor leveling are separate tasks unless they appear on the estimate. The flooring installer should say what the new product needs.
